Classification

Classification is the sorting of the initial distribution of particles for the desired degree of uniformity, according to chosen parameters. Classifiers are used increasingly in conjunction with inline particle size analysis combined with modern advanced control techniques to:

  • Reduce load on the grinding unit
  • Improve efficiency
  • Accelerate product changeover
  • Tighten product particle size distributions
  • Real-time automatic control of separator speed

In this section

Classification overview Classification is used to control or limit the shortcomings of the previous processing stages, for example to eliminate oversize particles at the exit of a mill or spray drier.

Classification concerns Real-time control of separator speed, improved cut efficiency and the removal of bottlenecks to improve yield are all concerns in optimizing the classification process.
